Cooper-Standard Automotive Appoints Gary L. Convis to Board of Directors
Novi, Mich., July 3, 2007 - Cooper-Standard Holdings Inc. today announced that Gary L. Convis has been appointed to serve on the board of directors of the company and its principal operating entity, Cooper-Standard Automotive Inc. effective July 2, 2007.
Convis, chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation's Kentucky manufacturing complex and executive vice president of Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America Inc., is stepping down from those positions. Convis will consult for Toyota as a senior executive adviser.
Convis was promoted to President of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK) on April 1, 2001. He joined TMMK as Executive Vice President in May of 2000. In April 2003, Convis was one of two Americans named by Toyota Motor Corporation as Managing Officer. This represents the highest post ever held by an American at TMC.
Before coming to TMMK, Convis spent 16 years at the New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. (NUMMI) plant in California. He began his career at NUMMI in 1984 as the General Manager of the plant in Fremont.
Convis joined General Motors, Buick Division, where he worked for two-and-a-half years. In October 1966, he joined Ford Motor Company. Over the next 15 years, he worked in manufacturing, engineering and quality control.
Convis graduated from the Michigan State University in June, 1964, with a degree in mathematics.
Convis also sits on the Board of the Japan America Society of Kentucky.
