Lightweight Glycol Cooling Solutions

In response to our electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturer customers’ need for a thermoplastic alternative to traditional EPDM tubing for glycol cooling applications, Cooper Standard is proud to offer the PlastiCool® 2000 multi-layer coolant tube system. Not only does it stand up to underhood and road chemicals and corrosives of all kinds, sodium and calcium chlorides, car wash chemicals, brake fluids, transmission fluids, lubricants, coolants, and grit, but it also helps our customers meet their need to continually reduce weight to increase the range of their vehicles.
Lightweight performance without compromise
In fact, PlastiCool 2000 tubing is more than 60% lighter than similar EPDM rubber cooling solutions. That means that the length of PlastiCool tubing is only about one-third the weight of the same length of rubber tubing. The material demonstrates truly outstanding hydrolysis resistance and permeation resistance; and it is also more cost-effective than EPDM hose.
Expanding PlastiCool® solutions to heavy vehicle applications
Very popular with our automotive customers, PlastiCool 2000 is now also available to the heavy vehicle customers served by Cooper Standard’s Industrial and Specialty Group (ISG). This includes manufacturers of trucks and buses, utility vehicles, vans, construction and agricultural equipment, powersports, marine vehicles and any other manufacturer producing innovative electric and hybrid versions of their products or otherwise utilizing glycol cooling systems in applications demanding up to 120°C intermittent excursion temperatures, or up to 100°C in continuous use.
A complete, ready-to-install cooling solution
In addition to the availability of high quality, low weight thermoplastic tubing, ISG partners are also excited about the fact that our PlastiCool 2000 cooling systems can be pre-built for you with the connectors perfectly mated and precisely attached in a ready-to-install subassembly. They arrive as a complete system, saving you installation time and costs on every vehicle.
Further, Cooper Standard manufactures connectors in-house, ensuring high quality performance, compatibility and ready availability from a proven supplier.
Flexible configurations for tight underhood packaging
PlastiCool systems are available in smooth and convoluted tube designs to fit into the tightest spaces under the hood. We can also work with you in a development partnership to create, from scratch, the optimally performing tube and connector system for any BEV or hybrid vehicle development project you may have on the drawing board, ensuring high quality cooling that meets the needs of any internal and external environments.
