Environmental Stewardship in Action

Progress That You Can Measure
Environmental Stewardship in Action

Sustainability is part of how we create long-term value for our customers, employees, shareholders, suppliers and communities. Through operational excellence, materials science expertise and a commitment to responsible growth, Cooper Standard is advancing environmental stewardship across our global operations and value chain.

Energy Conservation Across Operations
Rethinking How We Do Manufacturing

Energy is essential to Cooper Standard’s manufacturing processes, and energy reduction efforts are one of the most effective ways to lower emissions while improving operational performance. Across our facilities, the Company focuses on practical efficiency improvements, process optimization and renewable energy opportunities, and digital tool integrations that deliver environmental, financial and operational benefits.

Cooper Standard is making energy conservation more data-driven and an actionable part of daily operations. Digitization amplifies this work by creating greater visibility into energy use, equipment performance and process efficiency to help teams act faster and make more informed decisions. Together, these efforts support a reduced operational footprint while building a more resilient and competitive manufacturing network.

Stories of Impact

Behind every sustainability metric are people turning goals into progress. From plant-level energy efficiency projects to sustainability-focused product innovations and supporting the communities where we live and work, teams are finding new ways to turn action into measurable progress. These stories highlight everyday decisions across Cooper Standard helping build a more sustainable future.

SOURCING 100% RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY IN BRAZIL

Cooper Standard's facilities in Varginha, Atibaia and São Bento do Sul, Brazil, meet 100% of their electricity needs with renewable hydroelectric power, earning CEMIG Renewable Energy Certificates and advancing the Company's environmental stewardship efforts.

ADVANCING ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Cooper Standard's Kunshan, China facility implemented energy efficiency improvements across lighting, refrigeration, air compressor and hot water systems. Projected to save more than 1 million kWh annually, with best practices being leveraged across other facilities.

INSPIRING LOCAL IMPACT

More than 40 Cooper Standard facilities celebrated Earth Day with tree planting and sustainability initiatives that engaged employees in environmental action. These efforts highlight how teams across the Company support environmental stewardship in the communities where they live and work.

A phased decarbonization strategy helps Cooper Standard prioritize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions by addressing emissions sources where the Company has the greatest influence. Scope 1 and Scope 2 efforts focus on operational and energy-related emissions, while Scope 3 efforts emphasize collaboration across the value chain to drive broader emissions reductions.

SCOPE 1: DIRECT EMISSIONS &
SCOPE 2: INDIRECT EMISSIONS

Progress to Date
Cooper Standard achieved a 34% reduction in GHG emissions indexed to sales against a 2019 baseline, along with a 20% reduction in operational energy consumption indexed to sales, against a 2019 baseline.

Forward Looking
We will track progress toward our 2035 emissions reduction targets and longer-term carbon neutrality aspirations, while expanding the use of data and analytics to identify new opportunities and scale successful emissions reduction practices across our facilities.

SCOPE 3: VALUE CHAIN EMISSIONS

Progress to Date
Global teams are improving visibility across the value chain through collaboration with customers and suppliers. These efforts are helping strengthen emissions data, increase transparency and build a stronger foundation for future Scope 3 emissions reductions.

Forward Looking
We will track progress toward our 2035 Scope 3 emissions reduction target while improving data quality, transparency, supplier engagement and product lifecycle insights. Efforts will focus on expanding Scope 3 data collection, identifying emissions hotspots and advancing emissions reduction initiatives across the value chain.

Products & Innovation
Products & Innovation

Sustainability is built into the way we design, develop and deliver our products. Guided by our Purpose, Creating Sustainable Solutions Together, we use materials science, engineering expertise and responsible design to help customers choose solutions that reduce environmental impact across production, use and end-of-life without compromising performance.

Featured technologies demonstrate how thoughtful product design can reduce weight, improve recyclability and support more sustainable manufacturing. Designed for flexible application across ICE, EV and hybrid platforms, these solutions help support the industry’s shift toward electrification. Advancements in digital tools and analytics also enable virtual quality testing, reducing the need for physical prototypes.

Forward Looking
Expect significant sustainability improvements across our product portfolio, with an annual goal to achieve 30% of product portfolio improving sustainability compared to traditional solutions by 2028. Strive for solutions to provide direct sustainability benefits, with an annual goal of at least 75% of innovations to be linked to sustainability outcomes in production.

Resource Management
Resource Management

Responsible resource management is central to our environmental strategy. Across our operations, we focus on energy conservation, water stewardship, waste reduction, recycling and reuse, and material efficiency. These efforts help us reduce environmental impact while improving operational performance and supporting a more circular economy.

WASTE DIVERSION

67% of plants achieved greater 90% waste diversion. Achieved 89.1% waste diversion globally in 2025.

RECYCLED WASTE

57.5% of our waste from manufacturing facilities was recycled in 2025.

SCRAP REDUCTION EFFORTS

EPDM rubber scrap represents a significant portion of our process waste (approximately 36%). To reduce landfill disposal, we partner with vendors to repurpose rubber crumb into artificial turf, landscaping products, sub-flooring, rubberized asphalt.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

11% of consumed energy sourced from renewable energy consumption in 2025.

Tracking Progress
Tracking Progress

Dedicated environmental performance metrics offer a measurable view across sustainability priorities, including decarbonization, energy conservation, product recyclability, and water conservation. By tracking these indicators consistently over time, organizations can better understand where progress is being made, where additional focus is needed, and how individual initiatives contribute to broader environmental goals.

CLIMATE PERFORMANCE: SCOPE 1, 2 & 3 EMISSIONS

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions represent greenhouse gas emissions from Cooper Standard's operations and purchased energy. Tracking these emissions helps measure the impact of energy efficiency, process optimization and renewable energy initiatives while monitoring progress toward the Company's climate goals.

Scope 3 emissions represent indirect greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain, including purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution, and waste generated in operations. Tracking these emissions helps improve visibility, identify emissions hotspots and support future reduction opportunities.
