Cooper Standard Forms Global Sustainability Council
As part of our continued focus on sustainability and corporate responsibility, Cooper Standard recently formed a Global Sustainability Council. The council will provide executive level oversight for the Company’s sustainability strategy and ensure alignment and integration with business goals and stakeholder priorities. Managed by an executive chair with membership from Cooper Standard subject matter experts, the council will take a holistic look at the Company’s ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiatives, track rapidly evolving best practices and further develop long-term goals to drive world-class ESG performance.
Throughout 2019 and 2020, Cooper Standard has evolved its ESG efforts and reporting to strategically evaluate ESG topics and define long term goals to be accountable for progress. Evolving from simple compliance to an integrated part of the business, this process helped further engage internal stakeholders and help prioritize 2020 and 2021 activities. Cooper Standard’s ESG commitment and achievements have resulted in some recent successes:
- Recognized by Ethisphere® as One of the 2021 and 2020 World’s Most Ethical Companies;
- Named to Newsweek’s 2021 and 2020 list of America's Most Responsible Companies based on key areas of ESG; and
- Received General Motor’s Overdrive Award winner in the category of 'Sustainability' for the Company’s Fortrex® chemistry platform which offers enhanced product performance and improved value stream with a reduced carbon footprint versus traditional EPDM and TP sealing materials.
Sustainability is a factor that all stakeholders - customers, suppliers, employees, communities and investors - are considering with greater importance and higher expectations. Cooper Standard’s longtime commitment to sustainability has positioned us well to tackle the biggest challenges of our time, as well as innovate our new processes, products and materials, like our Fortrex® chemistry platform, to meet stakeholders’ current and future sustainability needs.
